Purpose
Beatles60 is a project for everyone who’s interested in the Beatles’ real story and wants to learn more about them and their times. It’s meant to be an independent and unbiased search for insights. The project adopts a longitudinal, phenomenological, and historiographic approach, aiming to understand the Beatles’ impact and significance from the perspective of people who witnessed and shaped the 1960s (with a focus mostly on the Beatles’ story). Unlike other Beatles-related groups and podcasts, we’re not interested in ranking or comparing the Beatles with other artists, or in celebrating their supposed “bestness.” We’re interested in exploring how the Fabs seemed at every step almost pre-adapted to have an effect on the world, and how they developed within the 1960s world as it was, with its contemporary sociocultural conditions, and what we can learn from their story today.
